Hello,

I have 2 connections to the Pilons. My ggg grandfather Joseph Asselin was married to Ellen Barry. She died in 1870 in Penetanguishene. He then remarried Angelique Martin on May 30, 1876 in Lafontaine,ON. She was previously married to a Pilon. Angelique was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Martin. If anyone should have a picture of Angelique and Joseph Asselin I would be greatly interested in buying a copy.

The other connection is Catherine Asselin who married Olivier Pilon on 1878 in Lafontaine. I understand they divorced. A picture of them would be also appreciated if any one has one. Catherine was sister to my gg grandfather Thomas Asselin.

Hello Pilons,
My 3rd great-grandfather is Benjamin Pilon (b: ~1933) and Philomine Delisle? (b: ~1838). I am a descendent through their daughter Rosa (b: 1879). I cannot seem to get the lines back any farther and was wondering if an of this information was familiar to anyone. They resided in Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada from at least 1881 till they immigrated to the USA. I have included the listing from the 1881 census of Valleyfield. I would REALLY appreciate any help you could provide.

Hello Pilons,
Lots of you are my cousins; my grandmother was Elizabeth, married Luke ouellette, of malden Township, Essex County, Ontario. My father was Victor Ouellette, mother Josephine Cotton.........five siblings, all of Amherstburg. I spent 8 years in the Royal Canadian Navy as a helicopter pilot and left to attend art school and pursue a career as a ceramic artist (potter). Have two sons married and living in Nova Scotia and four grandchildren. I stay in touch with Rose and Dan Pilon by email; I went to school with them.

My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth Jones Pilon, born 6 October 1845 in the Marylebone area of London, England. She was one of the many children of William Pilon, born about 1801 in the Tower Hamlets area of London, and Mary Edwards, born about 1802. William’s father was Jeremiah Pilon.

William was a “licensed victualler” — a publican — and had the Castle Tavern at 271 Regent Street in London for many years. Many in this family seem to have been in similar occupations, with several being listed as wine merchants. There is another Jeremiah Pilon, not William’s father, who ran the Duke of Clarence pub in the Rotherhithe area of London at about the same time. William had many children, who also had many children, so there must be many descendents of this English family group.

Several items on this site and chat area caught my attention. One member who contributed information on the Pilons in the Netherlands mentioned that the name Jeremiah came up in the older generations, and that certainly piqued my interest because it is my English ancestor’s name.

In 2003 an Anne Pilon posted from Australia that she wanted to know more about Henry and Charlotte Pilon, married 1866 in New South Wales. I have a record for a Henry Pilon, probably a son of William (and brother of my great-great grandmother), who was born in the Marylebone area of London about 1834. He arrived in Australia from England on 4 October 1852 along with his (likely) brother Stephen, both wine merchants.

A post in 2004 notes that Pilons in the UK could be of Welsh origin. I’d always assumed the French origin, so I will be alert for this possibility in my own family. My g-g grandmother’s middle name of Jones may be a clue that there is indeed a Welsh connection.

Elizabeth Jones Pilon’s daughter, my great grandmother, came to Canada in 1912 as a widow with eight children and homesteaded in the Biggar area of Saskatchewan. Of course they did not bring the Pilon name with them, but their descendants settled and mostly stayed in Canada, particularly in the west.

I am just beginning to piece together information on the Pilon line of my family, so would welcome any further details that anyone has and would be happy to provide what I have to anyone interested. I would particularly like to know how and when the Pilons came to England.

Thank you to the hosts of this website for putting together this excellent forum, and to the many posters for their interesting and informative contributions.

Cheers,

According to the 1881 Canada Census they lived in Aldfield, Quebec and had 8 kids including Louis; Joseph jr, Hyacinthe, Scolastiques, Napolean, Tharsile, Anastasie and Olympe ( married Isaac Diotte). Found the Pilon International website after I came home from DC and saw the name of Marine Alan Pilon on the wall.

My parents were from Canada, Dad (Lawrence James) from Montreal & Mother (Yolande Parmelia Moquin) from Ottawa, met in Flint, Mi at a house party. They bought the house later, that is the house I grew up in.

Dad retired from Buick Motor Div. at age 65. Was born Sept 15 1900. Mom worked at AC during the war making 50 caliber machine guns.

I have a brother Bruce(deceased) and two sisters, Rose Jeannine & Jeannette Faye, I'm Richard Ray 82yrs of age, oldest of the four. I spent 3 1/2yrs in the Air Force finished my tour of duty on the Berlin Airlift at Rhein Main Air Base Frankfurt, Germany.

I retired from AC Spark Plug GM in "92" at age 65. I am a pilot since 1944 and hobby is wwll air force re-inactment at the warbird airshows.

This website is a great thing I am glad I found it, looking forward to fully indulging myself in all of it.

Hello fellow Pilon's.

My name is Larry Pilon and I have lived my whole life in Las Vegas, Nevada! My mother tells me that one of my relatives, of which I will try to find out the name of, came from Canada in the 1800's and settled in New Mexico. There they had a general store where one day it is said that Billy the Kid walked in. Pretty cool to see so many Pilon's out there.

In the 1950's when I was a teenager, I worked at an international newspapers store in downtown Montreal. There was a charming man named Marc Pilon who came into our store quite often. He was not too tall, fair skinned and always well groomed and his mother tongue was French, but he spoke English so beautifully, so softly and so eloquently that I can almost hear him today. His voice was tenor and quite high pitched. And he had a wonderful laugh.

All I remember about him is that he mounted an art exhibition for Montreal Artists in Dominion Square in downtown Montreal and I think he probably worked in radio or some form of theatre-related or publishing business.

I sometimes think of him and wish I knew more about him and how his life progressed. He was a grown man and I was still a child so I really can't figure what his age would be.

I just remember that he was such a lovely man.

Hello everyone;

My name is Louise Pilon and I am looking for information about my branch of the Pilon Tree. Any information you can provide to me would be appreciated.

My Grandfather was Timothy Pilon and my Grandmother was Adelaide Meade. They settled in Grenville Quebec for most of their married life and had 8 children: Florence (married George Simons and continued to live on the family farm in Grenville), Timmy (2nd wife was May lived in Grenville beside the old Pilon farm), Russel (Lived around Lachute Quebec), Elzir or Elzeare (died at age 5 in the States), Evelyne, Sidney (Maried Matilda and moved to Lachute Quebec), Bernard Clarence (Married Frances Olive Barker and lived in Montreal Quebec), and Irene (Married Bert and lived in Vancouver BC Canada).

Adelaide Meade was born in Michigan around 1887 and died in Grenville Quebec around 1969. She was adopted by the Meade family as a young child (2 years old??).

Timothy Pilon was born on November 25, 1885 in Canada and died January 8, 1959 in Quebec, Canada. He moved to Montreal Iron Wisconsin to work at the Montreal Iron Mine in 1906. He married Adelaide around 1909, signed a draft card in 1917/1918 and there the trail ends for me so far. I cannot find any further references to this line of the family.

The only other names I know are related to him are Agnes Pilon, who I believe was either a sister or aunt, and Lambert Pilon who was also traced to Montreal, Iron Wisconsin mines around the same time (arrived two years earlier) as my granddad.

Family folklore states that Timothy's Father married an Iroquois (Mohawk) woman from Ontario. They only had one child together (Timothy) and she died. Timothy's father then remarried and may have had other children.

Timothy and Adelaide had their first 3 children while down in the states and then came back to Grenville Quebec, where they had a farm and raised their kids.

Thank you.

Hello:
This seems like the best place to start my search. I have done a complete genealogical tree of both my paternal (Dugas dit labreche) and maternal (Aide/Fortin) side of my family. I have one dead end, my great grandmother, who is a Pilon (or Pillon). My great grandmother, Annie Pilon (Pillon) was born April 10, 1887 or 1886 in or near Ottawa, ON. I do not have her father or mother's name, but she was Metis. Her mother would have been an "amerindienne", we know she was either Algonquin or Ojibway. (Most accounts are that she was Ojibway). Her photos clearly show us that she was at least 50% indian, if not more. Unfortunately my grandfather, who was 25% native, did not discuss or acknowledge this ancestry until a very late age at which time he gave us very few details. He had been teased as a youngster in Timmins, ON and thus denied this ancestry most of his life.
Annie Pilon married February 11, 1907 William John Aide in North Bay, ON. We had thought she was born in the Ottawa valley and not Ottawa proper, but a copy of her bible has a note saying she was born in Ottawa, April 10, 1887. She left her father at a young age, worked in a hotel bar in the Ottawa Valley and nothing is known about her mother.
Does anyone have any suggestions for us in helping with our search for her parents?
Sincerely,
David Dugas ddugas"at"magma.ca

Hello:
I have been working on a manuscript written by an Spanish artillery colonel around 1845 called Manuel Pilón y Ortega. He was born at Ferrol on the 24th of october 1790 reached the rank of Field Marshall (Mariscal de Campo) and died at Madrid on the 16th of march 1866. His parents were Antonio Pilón y Espejo a navy officer and Anastasia Ortega y Barrera both from Ferrol. His grand parents were Pedro Pilón who was born at Avignon (France) then a Pontific State who was the Captain of the first Company of Granadiers of the Infantry Regiment of Milán and married María Josefa Espejo born at Barcelona.
Manuel Pilón had a brother called Antonio who was also an Artillery officer.
Manuel Pilón married María Girón y Calderón and had two girls called Manuela and María. I do not know if they ever married or had any family.
As far as I know there is a Jesuit called José María Pilón and lives in Barcelona.
I hope this information is of your interest.
Probably this Pilons come from France so they are part of your family.
It should not be dificult to get some further information about the French Pedro Pilón through Spanish national Arquive at Simancas.
Yours,
Ubaldo Martínez - Falero

Dear Pilon Family !
In the investigation of Pilon descention there's a genetic disorder found in some Pilon's. It's called : Macula Degeneration : increasing bad vision or even blindness , mostly occurring after the age of 50 years. The Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands( Department of Genetic Diseases) is involved in a scientific investigation (Ergo-Study). If you have any knowledge of this symptoms of family members in the past or the present, it is mayby possible to investigate and probably treat this disorder. I would like to let you know the newest results and publish them on my webside : www.freewebs/piloninterests.com Please leave any messages in the guestbook or discuss this theme on the discussion or chat chapter.
Hope to hear from you,
your sincerely,

Greetings.
In 2004, Jill Browne wrote Piloninternational about Adelaide Belcourt. First, to clarify, John Glenn was not one of Alberta's first pioneers. Maybe he "pioneered" in a particular area, but as is mentioned, Jacques L'Hirondelle and Josephte Pilon were in Alberta three generations before Adelaide was born. But with respect to the genealogy and documentation, all of Catherine's eight children (all married) were Belcourt or Bellecourt. The question for Piloninternational is where did Josephte Pilon come from? One genealogist has identified a born and baptized Josephte in Pointe Clair, Quebec, in 1783, but the L'Hirondelle family always notes her as having been born in New Orleans, Louisiana abt 1782. It was not uncommon in those days for travellers to go up the Mississippi to the Missouri and up into what today is Alberta. There is the possibility/speculation that her husband Jacques L'Hirondelle (b. 1759 France/Canada - d. 27 Nov 1854) could have come up the same route, since their first daughter Catherine was born at Lesser Slave Lake in 1793. Any information on Josephte will be much appreciated. Best regards,

Additionally, there was a third Sergeant Pilon (Simeon Pilon, 2753227), but he was demoted in the field for "neglect of duty".

This touched me greatly! Thank you P.S. Why are there so many Anglophones speaking Pilons! (assimilation??)

Great website although I haven't recognized any of my descendents yet. My grandmother's maiden name was Amanda Pilon born in Mont-Cerf or Mont-Laurier, Quebec in 1893 and she had three sisters Irene, Diane, Bella and one brother Eugene. I don't have much information on the Pilons. The information I have is mostly on the Dorion family. Amanda Pilon married Armand Albert Dorion around 1909 in Aylmer, Quebec. They raised a family of 10 children (a few still living in Aylmer). The information I have dating back to the 1660s is that the Dorion family - Jacques Dorionne (as it was spelled back then) came from a diocese in Bayonne France and he married Jeanne De Copenne in Salies-de-Bearn around the 1660s. Hope someone has information on this branch of the family.

Hello,
I'm looking for information on the Pilons descended from Felix Pilon in the Niagara Falls, Ont around 1880-1900. I have access to the genealogy, but most of the stories and memories have been lost. I'm descended from Felix -> Eugene (Marie LaFontaine?) -> George (Rita McPhilips) -> Jonathan (Nancy Lumpkin) Pilon.
Eugene and sons Roy and George (plus one more) immigrated to Flint, MI around 1930. George and Rita McPhilips Pilon had children Daniel H., Jonathan J., Mary V. and Christine E. in Flint and Detroit.
Please contact me if you have any stories to share or if you would like more info on my family.
Aussi, je parle français.

I have been experiencing some difficulty leaving messages on this forum, so forgive me if you are bombarded with them. in an earlier message i explained how surprised i was to see my Great grandfathers home on your website, in your visit to Batoche. that home is where my grandfather was born, and raised, and yet it is the first time i have ever seen it. I would suppose that the photos are of your recent trip ther, and if i get the chance it will be my next vacation venture bar none. this family tree is all very new to me as my father passed away when I was 8 years old , and never knew any of his family. Lately i have taken up a personal crusade to fill in my family tree on my own, and I must say it gets easier every day, as there is just so much information. Thank you for this site it has made my day finding it.

Hello! We are researching the Pilon name and have a line all the way back to Francois Pilon married to Marguerite Lauzon on 22 Feb 1830 in Ste. Genevieve, Pierrefonds, Ile de Montreal, PQ. They had one son named Francois Jean Pilon and probably at least 1 more named Felix. It appears they also may have had a daughter Andree. If anyone has any other information for me, could they please leave a message here or contact me at ohjeannette"AT"hotmail.com Thank you in advance, Jeannette.

I'm looking for information on my grandmother, Elsie Pilon, from Brainerd, MN. Her birth certificate may have listed her as Melvina Elsie Pilon, then it seems that was changed later to Elsie Alice Pilon. Her father was apparently John Pilon, though her birth certificate may not have originally listed him or written him as Jas. Her mother is written as Delina Carpenter. She was the 18th child of Delina Carpenter and possibly the first of John. John was Delina's third husband according to some cousins. According to family tradition, Delina was full blooded native american, and John may have been Metis. Both John and Delina are listed as originally from Canada. i haven't been able to find any further information on John Pilon or Delina Carpenter in Canada or Minnesota, where they died. Any help would be appreciated. Natalya Simi

Hello Lorrie, I am glad you found the page on Émile Clarence to be of interest. It is very fulfilling when people actually comment on such pages. At this time of the year, those online memorials give greater meaning to the phrase "Lest we forget". And meeting you through this genealogy related site really brings home the promise of the internet. Now, as to adding your father, as Emile's brother. He could be added to Émile Clarence's genealogy which you can find at the following URL: http://www.piloninternational.ca/international/archives/emileclarence/efamille.html However, I think that to add one sibling, we have to add them all. So, if you agree, send me all of your aunts and uncles as well as your Dad and well see what can be done. At the same time, leave your full email address and we'll be able to communicate more easily. Regards,

Hi my name is Martin Lombardi.Three and half years ago I married Michelle Louisa Pilon, who I had pursued for some considerable time.I was at the point of giving up [possibally she sensed this] when she pursued me.Not one to be messed around I gave in instantly, how we men are weak.My wife [27] is the only child of GRAHAM BERNARD CLARANCE PILON and PATRICIA ANN PILON. Graham is the only son EMILE CLARANCE PILON and IRIS BOWERS.Graham's only regret is that he can't remember his father.Emile Pilon was stationed in England during WW2 where he met and married Iris.Emile was killed shortly before the war ended leaving a widow and a five month old son. Iris never re-married.This September Michelle took me to meet the Pilon clan in Blind River, this was my first visit to Canada. It won't be my last,we intend going again next year.I found the canadian people, without exception to the most genuine and loving people ihave had the pleasure to meet. While God made the world,he lived Canada.I feel very proud to be connected to the Pilon family and to Canada.I love my wife and in-laws to bits.

Please, any information about the birth city of Geanbaptista Pilon or Antonia Camponesa, please send it to phsouzaalves"AT"yahoo.com. Peter, many thanks for pointing out this misidentification. I should have realized when in the third paragraph I listed one of the other aircraft as EQ-W. I have made the change and added a link to the RCAF web page that provides an overview of the casualties of that evening where I originally found François bomber idenfication, but clearly made a mistake in putting the page together. Thanks again for pointing this out and thanks for taking the time to do so.

I have found that François Pilon lies in the Liesse Community Cemetery along with his comrades : W/O1 J. Guay (RCAF), Sgt H. Fill (RCAF), F/Sgt L. Haines (RCAF), Sgt R. Winter (RAF), F/Sgt I. MacDonald (RCAF) Sgt A. Gielty (RAF). But the aircraft was Halifax BB343 EQ-X not EQ-W as stated on the Pilon Page. There is a memorial just north of Guise, to the crew at Lesquielles St Germain (Aisne) near Guise. Peter researching Plzen raid 16/17 April 43

This is a follow up to a post a few years ago on the Argentine Pilon/Pillon origin. It's been discovered that two brothers left the northeastern region of Italy to South America in the early 1900's, (one known to be called 'Jose' Pilon and his brother [first name ?] Pillon). They were from the Bolzano/Merano town(s) of the Alto-Adige Region which is bordered by Austria and Italy and was often fought over by Romans first, then Germany, Austria, Italy, France, and so on. The town of Tyrol, Austria and Trento, Italy are pretty much one and the same to this day and those with Austrian allegiance spell the name Pilon and those with Italian allegiance spell the name Pillon. An elderly woman, a native in Bolzano was called that barres the Pillon name and she confirmed the story about the two Pilon/Pillon brothers and one settling in Argentina so we have finally made some kind of family connection to my husbands family in Italy but it’s slow-going due to the language barrier. For those of you who are history buff’s, below is a quip about the region in Italy I am talking about and can help explain why some small border-towns are confused and have split allegiances even to this day but co-exist really well from what I understand. The earliest Pilon/Pillon I show in that region is the mid-late 1700’s which is when France first invaded…maybe this is when the name was introduced via a marriage between a French Pilon and a native Italian woman? Things to think about! Below is the historical vinette: Trento is a city in northern Italy, capital of Trento Province and co-capital (with Bolzano) of Trentino-Alto Adige Region, on the Adige River. The city lies on the historic route, through the Brenner Pass, between Austria and Italy, and is a commercial and industrial center. Manufactures include machinery, chemicals, leather goods, textiles, and processed food. Among noteworthy points of interest are the Cathedral of San Vigilio, begun in 1212, and the 16th-century Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, in which the Council of Trent (1545-1563) was held. Situated in the city is the Free University of Trento (1967). The settlement came under Roman rule late in the 3rd century BC and was made a powerful defense bastion. The Ostrogoths captured Tridentum in the 5th century AD and lost it to the Lombards in the 6th century. In 774 the Lombards were subdued by the Franks, under whom the city became the seat of a duchy. Trento subsequently became a German possession, and in 1027 Conrad II of the Holy Roman Empire made it an Episcopal principality. The prince-bishops, under Habsburg sovereignty after 1363, governed Trento, except for periods of French occupation in 1797 and 1801, until 1802, when the principality was secularized and merged with Austrian Tirol (Tyrol). Seized again by the French in 1809, Trento remained under their rule until it was returned to Austria in 1814. After the formation in 1861 of the kingdom of Italy, the city was a center of Italian irredentism, a movement to acquire foreign territories because of ethnic affinity or previous Italian sovereignty over them. Trento was transferred to Italy in 1919 under the terms of the Treaty of Saint-Germain. If you have any comments/responses regarding this history or a connection with Pilon/Pillon’s from this region above, please contact us immediately. Our newest email address is michiganpilons"AT"charter.net but I can ALWAYS be found via lisapilon"AT"yahoo.com but I don’t check that address very often, however it is a good way to reach me IF the first address bounces back. Louise Pilon Graham.

Hello again, Here is an unexpected coincidence. Today I was researching the Metis ancestry of Adelaide BELCOURT. She and her husband John GLENN were pioneers in Calgary - John is known as the first pioneer, in fact. Adelaide's great-grandmother (one of them) is Josephte PILON. In the only source I have looked at so far, the children of Josephte's daughter, Catherine L'HYRONDELLE, have the last name of their father, Joseph BELCOURT. I see that you have the called those children L'HYRONDELLE. Is there a reason they would have their mother's surname? I am wondering in particular if they are called L'HYRDONDELLE rather than BELCOURT in the scrip or other records. Thanks in advance, and thanks again for this great website. Cheers, Jill

J'aimerais mentionner, si je peux me permettre mon cher, as tu 2 petites minutes? Merci, merci encore, parfait.

I think I'm gonna e-mail everyone and see if they've ever been to this site. We could defintely add some more people who are RCAF members as well as some people who have done great things!! Like me!! Ok, I'm kidding, not me, but someday I will!!! You've just gotta give me a little while!! Anyway, great site!!

Hello, I am not related at all, but my dad born in 1932 was curious what has become of Grace Ludwig, who married To Mr Willem Geert Pilon in "Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. It was a girlfriend in his (my dads) youth, and she must be about the same age. They married at he First Christian Reformed Church, 50th A. St. by Rev. R. Kooistra. She is originally Dutch and Willem Pilons parents were from The Hague in Holland. I am curious if this message will lead me to Grace. Nice idea to have a website like this to trace family lines by the way.

I have been trying to track down a Pilon/Proulx connection without success when a kind soul directed me to your site. I have a Hercule Proulx, (son of Joseph Proulx) who married Alexina Pilon (daughter of Toussaint Pilon) in 1898 in Prescott County. I have confirmed this marriage record I found in the Ontario Vital Statistics Index and it is correct. I am most interested in Hercule's parents. If anyone is aware of this line of the Pilon family I would be interested in hearing from you. Thanks.

I have found very much info on the pilon name, but I can't find any newer info. You see both my parents have died and I don't know anything other than my birth name and who my birth father was.He was Richard Pilon I assume from Rochester ny.I don't know if he had any siblings anywhere in the area and I would like to knmow a lot more.My mothers name was Doroth (merritt?)(Volkmar?),Again mom was very secretive about her life so I did not get any info from her.If any of these names are within any records someone has I would really appreciate some help.I know this is an impossible task but I figure I have nothing to lose.Thank you all

Hello there from Australia, the land of the Kangaroo & also the immigrated members of the Pilon family from Wales in the U.K. Pilon is a welsh name and in the early days of sailing ships people left their "poor" backgrounds to go & seek better times. My Cousin was bill pilon, a Butcher in Narrabeen N.S.W. just outside Sydney. My great grandmother was married to a Pilon back in the 1800's in western N.S.W Bill's Mother (we called her Aunty Polly) lived in Manly, a northern suburb of Sydney (Nth. side of Sydney Harbour) - Narrabben is further out, along the Northern Beaches. So ... there's a little bit of History for you, by the way I'm 62 yrs young and can only just remeber the actual links. Have started to research the matter myself - so would appreciate any help from other sources. COUSIN BILL PILON – BUTCHER AT NARRABEEN My Great-Grandmother was married to a Pilon, & also a Pritchard. First husband died falling off a sulky. Extract is below from part of an article at; www.interweb.com.au/narrabeen/narrhist.htm December 1934: In 1918, William Pilon's mother opened a confectionery shop in Octavia Street which Bill converted into a butchery in 1925. He had joined tha North Narrabeen SLSC at the age of 16. On Boxing Day 1934 he was working in his butchery when a Narrabeen resident, Ronald Bowyer was overcome by cramps while swimming at North Narrabeen Beach. When his plight was observed by a group of children, they ran to Bill Pilon for help. Without hesitation he ran from his shop, across the beach, abandoning surplus clothes as he went and swam som 300 yards to support the now unconscious man until two other lifesavers could don belts and come to their assistance. The unwelcome presence of a shark was ignored. William Pilon was awarded the Bronze Medal and Certificate of Merit by the Royal Humane Society for this outstanding feat of courage and endurance. He died in 1985, aged 81. South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club 1934 Old Men's Home 1936 and Surf Carnival 1936

My uncle, Joseph Albert Tanguay, married Louise Pilon, on the 24 of January 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Louise Pilon's parents were Alfred Pilon and Louise Delorme of St. Adolphe, Manitoba. Louise was badly burned in an accident and died on the 10th of June 1947. Joseph Albert died in an accident, 22 November 1947. They left 11 children orphaned. I do have info about them. But I am looking for information about Louise Pilon...her parents...her family history. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone. I am new to the site and have a very sad story to tell you all. I was raised in a single family home by mom. My father Jeffery Rene Pilon, I do not know much about. It is very interesting to read all of your comments from the site and to see how far "Pilon" goes back. Can anyone send me a geneology of the name? I know that is a big task but I would really like to know more about us. I almost cried stumbling upon this page because it almost make feel complete to know there are people our there that share my name who are searching for the same thing I am. If anyone coudl fulfil my request it would be great. Sincerly, Scott Anthony Pilon

Hello everyone! I don't know much about my family history, but it is cool to see a family website. My Grandpa tells me that our family migrated from Canada, so it doesn't suprise me to see a lot of Pilon's residing in Canada. Who ever said that our name has been interpreted as "pee-on-the-lawn", I hear you! I am originally from Albuquerque, NM, but I relocated in 2001 to attend college in Idaho. So if anyone knows anything about Pilon's that traveled South to Colorado in the early 1900s, and later migrated to New Mexico, let me know. Until then, God bless.

Just this week I found out my husband’s Pilon background. After a two year search I found his birth family in part by reading a Pilon genealogy that was recently published by a cousin. You will find an excerpt from this below. My husband’s grandfather was Joseph Richard Israel Raoul Pilon. This genealogy was compiled by a great aunt of my husband’s who has many old hand written family records. In the Pilon genealogy book written by Thomas Bernard Pilon, it is written that Bienvenu Pilon and Vitaline Legault had only one child, Cordelia Pilon. However, there were several others. You will note that Bienvenu Pilon was married in Clarence Creek, Ontario Canada. I seem to remember reading that many Pilons came from Clarence Creek. Is this correct? Is there a connection to the Detroit Pilon’s as well? My husband’s uncle was told that his father and uncles went to Detroit to find work, but were born in Bay City. Thank you in advance for any clarification that you may provide. Descendants of Bienvenu Pilon Generation No. 1 1. BIENVENU2 PILON (THOMAS1) was born Bet. 1815 - 1847, and died April 05, 1914. He married VITALINE LEGAULT Bet. 1840 - 1885 in Clarence Creek, Ontario Canada. She was born Bet. 1840 - 1885, and died February 23, 1933. Children of BIENVENU PILON and VITALINE LEGAULT are: 2. i. JOSEPH THOMAS CAMILLE3 PILON, b. April 05, 1871; d. September 09, 1945. ii. JOSEPH BIENVENU VALENS PILON, b. 1859. iii. MARIE VITALINE CORDELIA PILON, b. 1862. iv. JOSEPH HERMAND WENCESLAS PILON, b. 1865. v. JOSEPH ALFRED ULRIC PILON, b. 1867. vi. MARIE HERMANTINE PERPETUE PILON, b. 1869. vii. JOSEPH CALIXTE PILON, b. 1873. viii. He married MARIE BLANCHE GAUTHIER May 29, 1894 in Bay City, Michigan, daughter of STANISLAUS GAUTHIER and GEORGIANNA TREMPRE. She was born June 08, 1872, and died June 11, 1941. Children of JOSEPH PILON and MARIE GAUTHIER are: i. JOSEPH RICHARD ISRAEL RAOUL4 PILON, b. March 18, 1903, Michigan; m. (1) GARNETTA; m. (2) MARIE. ii. JOSEPH AMEDIE ARTHUR PILON, b. Hello Jackie, I am glad that you found this site because obviously there are many reasons to be proud of who you are and those who are related to you from near or far. As for your grandfather's participation in the Second World War, records, other than the listing of soldiers who may the supreme sacrifice, are protected by the Privacy Act. I am not certain when that expires, but unfortunately we cannot carry out the kind of study of the Second World War records that was possible with the Pilon soldiers of WWI. However, by leaving a message in the Chat page, you have done so, to the honour of your grandfather! Thanks for taking the time to do this!

Wow, this is a great site. I had no idea that there were Pilon's all over the world. To be quite honest, I've hated my last name since I was a child as it was often turned into "pee-on-the-lawn". But this is still a great site. My grandfather was Rene Pilon who served in WW II, but i didn't see his name listed on your site. Have a great day everyone!

I am Lisa, wife of Gustavo (Gus) Pilon originally of Rosario, Argentina, born there February 7, 1961. Gus lives with his wife (me) and 3 children in Twin Falls, Idaho. I've have posted on this board before but our state and email address has changed since then. We can now be reached at idahopilons"AT"velocitus.net. Since the last time I was here, we've been some what successful at researching and understanding at least the history of the Pilon/Pillon name leaping from the Austrian/Itialian Alps to Argentina. We even called a woman in the town of Trento, Italy this last Christmas, to see if there was a connection, and it seems there was. She was very joyous in her response and in spite of the Spanish and Italian language difference, my father-in-law, Juan Andreas Pilon, was able to get some information from her. I'm still trying to decipher if into English, but from what I can tell, this woman is in her late 80's or 90's, and she recalls "Jose" Pillon (possibly born Giuseppe Pillon) and his brother (name still unknown) and others, leaving to various destinations, one of which was Argentina. She also recalled that her family went to Argentina to visit and tried to find the Pillon/Pilon's that had migrated there, but were not successful...which is a real shame. We believe our connection must be to the Pilon/Pillon's of Trento/Trentino, Italy and Tyrol, Austria, neighboring border towns in North Eastern Italy along the Italian and Austrian peek borders. There is even a Hotel El Pilon there! Sadly, Gus' Uncle was just in Italy and while trying to find these Pilon/Pillon families, he got a flat tire nearby these towns, couldn't get much help, and out of frustration they left without going into the these towns. At the time of his visit, we had no idea these towns were so important. Another shame. Unfortunatly, due to many wars and treaties in which these border towns were traded back and forth as barter for political alliances, many of the records we are searching for, either are lost, distroyed, or very difficult to decipher due to what appear to be duplications, some in Germanic language and others in Italian. The records I've found so far, reflect the 1700's and does not yet help me make the connection between the Pilon/Pillon's that left for Argentina some time between 1890-1905. Another mystery, is that Jose Pillon was said to have left Italy/Austria with his brother (name unknow), but Jose arrived alone in Argentina. The story is that his brother may have caught the wrong boat and went to North America instead of South America. We are thinking he would have arrived through New York but since we don't have his name or year of arrival, we are still at a loss to clearly track him down. I wish I had more time to dedicate to these searches. In the meantime, if there is anyone who feels they might be able to assist with any information, even if it is a hunch...please don't hesitate to email us. By the way, Teresa Pilon of Canada, originally from Argentina...we are related! I emailed you today, hopefully we can connect. FYI-My husband Gus' grandfather was Andrea Pilon of Rosario, Sante Fe, Argentina. We have you listed in our family tree as merely "Hija"to Luis and Delia (obviously Adelia) Pilon. Juan Pilon, son of Andreas (my father-in-law), and you, are 1st cousins. I would love to know more about you and your family and what information you might have, if any, about Jose Pillon & his wife Teresa Merlano.

Hello Pilon family! My father is John Maurice Pilon. Dad was born above a butcher shop in Vankleek Hill 59 years ago. He is happily married to my mother, Majorie "Ann" Cass and they are retired and living in Perth, Ontario. His mother is Cecile Levac and he also has three sisters - Pat, Yvonne and Jeannette. His father was Vincent Louis Pilon. I live in Cobourg, Ontario with my husband, Steve Waller and our two children, Jack (3 1/2) and Talen (2). It is always fun to read about other "Pilon" family and friends.

WOW! I did not know there are so many Pilon's out there. I rarely see the Pilon last name. I was born and raised in Utah. My fathers name is Franklin Albert Pilon, born September 6 1936, I believe my grandfathers name was the same. My father had two brothers, George and Tony, I never met them. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I believe we are from the spanish Pilon's however I am not sure as I am told I have french blood lines from Qubec Canada. Would enjoy emails from anyone who would like to send them.

I am a Pilon descendant. My grandmother was Irene Pilon, 1st child of Philip (always went by Eli) Pilon and Deliska Bergeron (spelling?). Eli had two sisters. I think they were named Lila and Elbertine. We think Elbertine married Harm Pomaville. Lila was last known to be in River Rouge, MI. Eli was born Mar 10, 1868 somewhere in Canada. My grandmother Irene was born in Washburn, WI on April 9, 1893. I have her birth certificate. Deliska was born Sep 3, 1874 in Ontario, Canada. I know that Irene was married Aug 30, 1909 in Pinconning, MI. Irene, Eli and Deliska are buried in my area of Michigan. Eli's death certificate indicates his father's name is Teofil Pilon and his mother's name was Tarcil Raby. Does anyone out there recognize any of these?

I would like to clarify the Pilon Family in Brazil. They arrived in Brazil between 1880 and 1905. These imigrantes come from the Province of Veneza in the northeast of Italy main from Treviso , Vitorio Veneto , Beluno . Some of them was born in the border of Austria but they imigrated without any documents because the imigration at that time was permitted only to Italians . The major part are blond , blue eyes and love music. In Brazil at the begining they worked in the coffee plantations , but today they are fully integrated in the society . My grand grand father comes from Castelfranco Veneto ,Treviso and his name was Giocondo Pilon and his wife Angela . The sons was named Amalia , Alessandro(my grand father) ,Celesta , Emilio and Galiano . They arrived in the Santos Port on Janury 12 , 1901 and moved to Jau , São Paulo State. If Jean Luc read this line please confirm . I admire the efforts of Pilon's in Canadá to maintain the tradictions of the Family.

Bonjour! Micheline Pilon

As an historian of art i am preparing a book about Schoonselhof. If you like some innformationabout someting, you can ask me, maybe I can help you, greetings, Anne-Mie Havermans

Hello Wietske, Thank you so much for your note to the Pilon International Chat Section. It is so wonderful to see how the internet has brought us all closer together. Just think, it was probably unthinkable by our grand-parents of making the kinds of links that we have established. How much were our various branches even aware of each others existence. I know that here in the smug new world, we generally ignored our international history, thinking that we came from France, full stop. Anway, it is heart-warming to know that the story is more complex and that we can perhaps find ourselves through all of this, and enrich our lives. I am certain that you have gone around the Pilon International web site, or at least I hope you have, and that you have found our humble page devoted to the Pilons of the Netherlands (http://www.piloninternational.ca/international/genealogies/holland/dutchpilons.htm) and that you have also found a note about our Dutch Pilon Partner, Jan Pilon (http://www.piloninternational.ca/international/partners.html) of your native town of Gronigen. He is surely a relative. I hope you will contact Jan as I believe he is preparing more information on the Dutch Pilon family history (s-goed"AT"wirehub.nl). I am certain he would love to hear from you. Again, wonderful to hear from you and I hope you found the site enriching. Jean-Luc Pilon Pilon International Webmaster

My g-g-grandmother was Emelie Pilon, b. Ontario 1839. I have never been able to find her parents names. Recently I was told that she had claimed to be part Indian. On the Metis site, I find Antoine Pilon, b. 25 Oct 1875 or in 1879, son of Pierre and Francoise Robidou. He married, according to church records, Angelique Lemai (Joseph Lemai & Louise [Montagnaise]) on 6 March 1832 in St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba. They are listed in the census for the Red River Settlement in 1832. On your site, I find apparently the same Antoine married to Archange Cuillier dit Beaubien. Their last child was born in 1832, the same year that he married Angelique. He was a voyageur with the Hudson Bay Company. Does anyone know if this is the same man? Did he have children with Angelique? If you have any information, please help me. This has been my "brick wall" for years. Judi

Dear friend, There is also a dutch "Pilon" line, starting approximatelaty in 1630 with Abraham Pilon. A connection is suggested with Daniel Pilon from Sedan Do you know whether there is a connection between the French-Dutch and the French-American/Canadian family, somewhere in France? I hope that you can find a link With my best regards Hans Egberts, son of Anna Pilon (XIth generation)

Hello Pilons I knew there were more Pilons than I knew, but the family name is apparently more widely spread than I thought. I know Pilons in Holland and in New Sealand and knew about American and Canadian Pilons but there are more than I could imagine.

I am currently sitting at working, feeling rather bored and I thought that I would see if there was any information about my family name on the internet and wow this site is kind of exciting. All the different languages and countries represented really makes me feel proud to be a Pilon. We should have a family reunion in a different part of the the world every year.

My family stays near Beauharnois since 3 generation, which mean till my grandfather Leopold Pilon. But now the family is spreading with my recent moving to Montreal and maybe France soon.

My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth (Lizzy) Pilon, of Malden Township, Essex County, near Amherstburg. I have lots of Pilon cousins, all of whom I never see since I have lived on the coast for years. My grandfather (Luke) and grandmother lived on the Pike Road, very close to where her father lived and built wagons, on a large farm that was lost during hard economic times.

Hi. I'm a Pilon from BC, Canada. My dad's name is Gilles Joseph Pilon and he was born in 1933 in St. Ann Belueque, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has a sister name Suzanne (sp?) and two brothers, Jean Guy and Henry Paul. I was named after my Grandmother, Pauline Pilon, who lived in Montreal. I know very little about my dad's family so I don't have any history to add; however, I think it's great that there is a "PILON" web site. I look forward to reading more about the Pilon geneology!!!!

What a fabulous site! I just stumbled in here while searching for family links. I have regretably been out of touch with my immediate family for quite a while - something I hope to change. If anyone knows the whereabouts of my father, Robert Paul (Bob) Pilon (b. Montreal around 1941), I would love to hear from you. Many thanks!

Hi I am not a Pilon, or related to them. However I am a descendant of the Huegenots who fled to Holland, during persecution. Can anyone help with info on their roots, and also the meanings of the Heugenot Cross, which I posess as apiece of gold jewellery. These are readily available in Holland. I am a Dutch born naturalised Australian, and have lived here since I was 11, now 56. Thank you

I am first cousin to Jean-Luc Pilon. I know him as just Luc. We unfortunately do not see much of each others family. But I must let you know, your other first cousin married a Pilon not our branch and has two sons that are rather "famous" Marc Pilon and Jeff Pilon both play for the Calgary Stampeder's. Marc a defensive lineman actually scored the winning touch down in Sundays game. Quite a feat for a lineman. Jeff is on the injured list unfortunately, but played for the XFL last year when he was let from the practice list of the New York Jets. When his knee heals we expect even bigger things from him. Marc is in his option year and we are hoping he comes home to Ottawa. Needless to say I think you have two more Pilons for the "Famous" page. Cheers, Carole

My grandmother's maiden name was Pilon. Her full name was Wilhemina Josefina Arjentina Pilon. She married Willem Bos (William) and lived with him on the prairies of Southwestern Saskatchewan Canada near the villages of Shackleton and Cabri. They moved to Edmonton Alberta Canada where my father was born, and then to Manhattan Montana USA and then to Bellflower California USA where she died in 1954, the year after I was born. She had a sister who lived in California that I met in 1987, a few months before she died. Her name was Hilla (Hilda) and I believe her married name was Renema. I know that my grandmother lived in the Chicago area and I know that she also had relatives near Platte South Dakota USA. I also know that she emigrated from the Netherlands to the United States, but know very little else about her. There are family members with the last name of Sikkens in both the Netherlands and in southern Alberta (Iron Springs and Lethbridge areas) that are also related to her in some way. I would like to know if any of that links her to anyone who might be known. My father knows very little about the family except that they appear to have been Heugenots at the time they emigrated to the Netherlands. He also has stated that there are some correspondences with the name spelled "Pillon" and some historical data which suggests origination on the island of Sicily. Any of this make sense to anyone?

OUELLETTES IN ONTARIO. I noticed that several of the Pilon family members married Ouellettes. I am interested in contacting and learning about Ouellettes in Ontario... where the communities are located, the churches and cemeteries, etc. I am trying to track the origins of my Willette (originally Ouellette) surname. A family story is that they lived in Ontario in the mid 1800s. My great grandfather, who entered the U.S. in 1849 through Buffalo and settled in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was Orville Villemaire Ouellette. Thanking you in advance for any assistance you can give me. For a bit less than a year now, the Pilon Chat section of Pilon International has been regularly visited by Pilons or people interested in things Pilon, from around the world. Robert Pilon and Jean Pilon have also been quite busy fielding inquiries sent to them via GenForum's Pilon page. Once again, these requests and queries have been arriving from around the globe. The lesson; Pilons are to be found around the world. We cross linguistic, ethnic, religious, racial and national boundaries. We have come to realize that all those boundaries are so artificial and only serve to divide and set apart, while at the same time, we are all related in one way or another. There is a richness to our own particular family history which is almost certainly found in most families. The world and humanity is indeed a small place and quite obviously, our ancestors never let these boundaries get in the way in the past. Let us all learn a valuable lesson from this; globalisation is not such a modern invention afterall!!

PILON or PILLON's of AUSTRIA?? AND ARGENTINA?? Trying to find out more about the European link prior to ARGENTINE, PILON/PILLON's. My husband is GUSTAVO OSVALDO PILON of Rosario, Argentina now naturalized in the U.S.A. His father JUAN ANDRES PILON and grandfather DON ANDRES PILON are also born and raised in Argentina. They look very dark Italian & Guatani Indian in appearance. However Gus' great-grandfather was the first generation PILON/PILLON generation in ARGENTINA, after WWI we believe and we also believe he arrived in ARGENTINA spelling his name PILLON. It is said (by word of mouth) that he was AUSTRIAN? He was blonde with blue eyes and to this day some cousins pop up every so often with these features. I am desparately looking for a link to the PILON/PILLON's in ARGENTINA back to AUSTRIA and Europe. One other clue we have is that an ANDREA PILON was the first to drop the second "LL" and was first registered incorrectly as a woman BUT WAS A MAN and spoke Italian born in Zaballa, Sante Fe, Argentina. I know that parts of Austria used to be actually Italy prior to WWI. Yet this man clearly white caucasian features. There is also rumour he was in the Canary Islands at one time on his way to Argentina???

My Mother was born Beatrice Cecelia Vick. Her Mother Was Annie Delia Pelon. Delia was born about1881. Delia's husband died June 1911. My mother was adopted into the Lovett Family in 1912. When I contacted, Child and Family Services of Michigan, about my mother, they gave my the following. "Or records state that her birth mother's name at that time was Annie Delia (pelon) Vick. She resided in Grosse Isle, Michigan. Later correspondence indicated her name changed to Annie Delia Priest of Montgomery, Michigan and then Hanover, Michigan. In 1916, she was residing in Rives Junction, Michigan. She reportedly remarried her first husband's brother and became Mrs. Delia Vick again. In 1925, she resided at 13857 Charest Ave., North Detroit, Michigan." Another part of the report describes Annie in 1912 as, 31 years of age, fair complexion, 5'4" in height, slender build. She worked as a wiatress. She was of French desent and followed the Catholic faith. Annie's mother died at the age of 21 during child birth, she was of French desent. My mother said that Annie's parents were Antonie and Anna Pelon. Pilon?

My name is Kay Boyle. My Grandmother was Marie Louise Pilon. From what I can remember as a child, she explained that she was adopted by Alexander and Maggie Pilon. Those are the names that are reflected on her death certificate (1966). She was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 15, 1890. Her early years were spent in a Catholic orphanage and she was adopted by the Pilons' during her early years. I have been unable to successfully trace her family tree. I did find some records through the Morrison County Historical Society in Minnesota that she was living in Brainerd MN just prior to marrying my Grandfather, Frederick Carl Stroming in 1908. If anyone has ever heard of any of these Pilon names, would you please let me know. Thank You.

Hello Jean-Luc and other Pilon descendants. Although my last name may not show it, I too am descended from Antoine Pilon and Marie-Anne Brunet. Jacque Prou dit Le Poitevin, married Jeanne Pilon on 1 February, 1706 in Lachine, Quebec. Jeanne was the eldest daughter of Antoine. I have been researching the Proulx side of my mother's family for some time nowand was quite pleased when I came across your web site. It was fascinating to see the home of Antoine (I had no idea there were homes that old in Canada stillstanding!!) and to read your various pages. I look forward to seeing more.I am planning to make a link to your site on my web site as well. For anyone interested in my descent and the connection to the Pilon family, it can be found under the heading "My Mother's side of the Family" and in the link forProulx. The web site address is: .I believe it is very important to trace not only one's paternal ancestry, but our maternal ancestry as well. Let's face it, where would we be today ifnot for our maternal connections? I think it would be fun to read other entries from descendants of Antoine and Marie-Anne'sother daughters. My records indicate of the eleven children, six were daughters. There names are listed under my Proulx link. I would love to hear others point of view on this subject as well.By the way, although I do not write it very well anymore (24 years in Toronto),I do speak and read French fluently. Steven

Jean-Luc Pilonjlucpilon"AT"sympatico.ca>
